Psychology

The therapeutic alliance is the most important aspect of psychotherapy. My clinical approach draws on somatic/ body oriented approaches, eye movement desensitisation reprocessing and internal family systems therapy. I also use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, depending on the needs of the individual. 

Qualifications and professional development

I commenced the 4+2 pathway to psychologist registration in 2006, working in a drug and alcohol service. I then completed a Master of Clinical Psychology in 2010, and have been practicing in public and private hospitals, private practice, prisons, veterans and their families mental health service. I have been providing supervision since 2011 and have worked as a lecturer, manager and clinical supervisor.

I am the Director of Psychedelic Assisted Therapy programs Monarch Mental Health Group. 

I am a non-executive board director of Jenny’s Place, a Domestic Violence and Homelessness Support service for women and children in Newcastle.

I am co-chair of the Australian Association of Psychologists Inc Psychedelic Assisted Therapy interest group, and a committee member of the Australian Psychological Society Psychedelic Assisted Therapy Interest Group. I am a certified iRest Yoga nidra teacher.

Recent professional development includes:

  • Level 1 Internal Family Systems (IFS) completed 2023

  • MAPS MDMA assisted psychotherapy training completed 2023

  • Foundations of Psychedelic Assisted Therapy (Wild Mind Institute) completed 2022

  • Mind Medicine Certificate in Psychedelic Assisted Therapy (CPAT) 2021

  • Accredited EMDR Practitioner, completed foundational training in 2005
